Sean Reynolds book, 'Melbourne Ghost Signs' is a photographic collection of the faded signs and half-hidden logos of Melbourne - a small window into the historic tales of the city 'from the gold-rush years to the Swinging Sixties, from Robur Tea to Tarax soft drinks.'
Originally from the U.S.A, Sean first became fascinated by these signs on his daily lockdown walks through Yarraville and Footscray. He loved the hand-painted letters, the intricate glasswork, and the names he’d never heard of before: from big ones like 'Uncle Tobys' and 'Four’n Twenty', to smaller ones, like ‘Miss Watson’s Motor Garage’ or the ‘St Kilda Coffee Palace’.
Join Sean in a tour of fascinating photos and the stories behind them. Find the secrets behind the city you thought you knew, one ghost sign at a time.
Sean Reynolds is originally from Illinois, and has been twice nominated for an Emmy through his work on Ellen and TMZ. He moved to Melbourne in 2015 and now works for the Royal Historical Society of Victoria.
