Discover rich heritage and culture at our monthly History Through Film sessions.
This month, you're invited on an epic road trip with the Bells, a sixth-generation family with one mission: to keep their carnival alive and thriving. Come along for the ride as they haul their convoy of trucks, rides and workers from Batemans Bay to Darwin and back in the 2023 documentary, 'The Carnival'.
The Bells' traveling show has been touring Australia for a hundred years. Now facing some of the toughest times they’ve ever seen, they are preparing to hand over the reins to the next generation. Filmed over 7 years, this remarkable documentary allows you to step behind the scenes of the travelling show, unveiling the mysteries carnival-life, as well as a family grappling with traditional life in a modern world.
Come along to watch this intriguing documentary in the comfort of Melton Library. After the session, we can also show you how to stream even more documentaries and films from home using your library card, absolutely free.
