This Wurundjeri Week, join us in remembering past elder Julia Jones, also known as Princess Bullum Bullum.
Princess Bullum Bullum is the namesake for a number of landmarks across the western suburbs, including the Bullum Bullum reserve, and Melton Library's Balam Balam room.
In this special event, we will be premiering a video and exhibition created by Melton City Libraries, and Julia's son and grandchildren, celebrating her life and legacy. We will be joined by Julia's family for a Q&A session, as they generously share their family members' story with us.
Julia Jones, was born on Coranderrk Mission and was given the name Bullum Bullum, meaning “white butterfly”. She was an initiated Yarra Yarra Wurundjeri woman, elder, activist and devoted family member.
When you see a white butterfly, the Jones family would like you to think about Bullum Bullum and continuing connections to country.
Wurundjeri Week is an acknowledgement and celebration of the Traditional Owners of Wurundjeri, including the land that the Melton Library sits upon.
