Murder, Secrets and Silence: My Great Grandparents' Story

A simple remark from a family member led Patricia McQueen to uncover a tragic and fascinating story: her great-grandfather killed three of his own children in the 1890s.

Looking beyond the violence, Patrica was able to glimpse the life of her great-grandmother who migrated from Ireland at age 18, married twice, survived the great depression of the 1890s, and gave birth to twelve children. Her life was so much more than her husband’s terrible deed.

Patricia has an interesting work history: from working in a cigarette factory’s canteen from the age of six to an art gallery founder, zoo employee and university lecturer. She has a Bachelor of Education, Art and Craft; a Graduate Diploma of Applied Science (Museum Studies) and a Master of Arts in Communication. She currently works part-time at the Moorabool Libraries, allowing her to focus her creative non-fiction writing. Patricia recently became interested (obsessed) in her family history after discovering the secret that was hidden for 130 years.
