Event Description
Discover rich heritage and culture at our monthly History Through Film sessions.
This month, join us to watch the fascinating and moving documentary '51 Birch Street: A Family Mystery'.
Documentary filmmaker, Doug Block, had every reason to believe his parent’s marriage was a good one. Imagine his surprise when, just a few months after his mothers’ death, his father, Mike, announces that he’s moving to Florida to live with his secretary from 40 years ago. When Mike and Kitty marry and sell the longtime family home, Doug returns to Long Island for one last visit. There he discovers his mother’s daily diaries going back 35 years. Investigating his family history, Doug slowly comes to peace with two parents who are far more complex than he ever imagined.
Enjoy a free screening in the comfort of Melton Library. After the session, we can also show you how to stream even more documentaries and films from home using your library card, absolutely free.
