Event Description

Human Stories is a new program series hosted by Melton City Libraries, that aims to showcase the hope, heartache, and unique personal journeys that make up our diverse community.

This month, we’re excited to welcome Melton local, Grace Slocombe, along with ABC broadcaster and author, Jacinta Parsons, to share their stories in navigating chronic illness.

Grace lives with Ehler's Danlos - a connective tissue disease. At age 21, Grace had just completed her Bachelor’s Degree and had begun her Honours in Molecular Biology. She was told that she would have to discontinue her work as her mobility and fine motor skills continued to decline. Grace has since worked hard to re-orient her life in the face of uncertainty, training to become a dual nurse/paramedic.

Jacinta Parsons is a broadcaster, writer, public speaker and host of ABC Melbourne's afternoon radio program. Her second book ‘A Question of Age: Women, ageing and the forever self’ was released in April. Jacinta has lived with Crohn’s Disease for over 20 years and is an ambassador for the Crohn’s and Colitis Association.

Join us to hear their inspiring stories as voices for those living with chronic and invisible illnesses.
