Australian Poetry Slam: Wordshop

Poetry Slams and wordshops are popping up around the nation. From June to October, 1000 writers will grab their moment in the spotlight leading to one National Final at Sydney Opera House. Finalists will compete for a prize worth $20,000, including publishing opportunities and gigs from Byron to Bali and beyond.

Whether you're new to Poetry Slams, or you're looking to perfect your craft, this workshop is the perfect way to prepare for the Melton Heat. Come along and learn everything you need to know with creative mentor, Andi Stewart. Four-time Australian poetry slam finalist and two time runner-up, Andi founded Hobart’s WhamBamSilverSlam! and ROWDY before moving to Victoria in 2020. Andi believes that anyone can be a poet - a belief he brings to all his workshops at libraries, high schools and even living rooms.

Once you've attended the wordshop, you're invited to attend the Melton Heat on Friday 4 August 2023. Two poets, as chosen by the audience, will head to the Victorian Final!

All ages are welcome to attend and enter Australian Poetry Slam, however children under 12 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
