Event Description
Join us at Melton Library to watch the film Mabo, to celebrate Mabo Day. Starring Debra Mailman and Jimi Bani, Mabo outlines the life of national hero Eddie Mabo and his historic challenge in the High Court that led to the establishment of Native Title in Australia.
The film begins with his life growing up on Mer Island in the Torres Strait, and details the landmark court decision five months after his death in 1992 that officially recognised the rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australia.
Mabo is rated PG.
