Bonegilla: The Migrants' Journey
Saturday 20 April 2024 at 1:00PM
Melton Library & Learning Hub
Event Description
Join award-winning podcaster and musician Simon Reich as he recounts the experiences of post World-War-Two migrants in the Bonegilla Migrant Camp through interviews, video and live music.
Migrants formed the backbone of Australia after the Second-World-War. Many migrants spent time in the Bonegilla Migrant Camp near Albury as part of the relocation process.
Life in Bonegilla could be funny, heart-breaking, and tedious all in the same day. Stories told about Bonegilla camp have become critical sites of identity formation for post World -War-Two migrants and their descendants.
Join Simon as he performs his ode to the Bonegilla migrants he has interviewed in this fascinating Melton City Libraries' Heritage Festival event.
