Australian Poetry Slam: Melton Heat

Event Description

Watch, judge, perform, learn. Flex your vocal chords with a new voice. Run with new leaders. Write new poetic revolutions. Turn your moments of “…um” into MomentUm. You’ve got two minutes on the mic. Build your MomentUm to crescendo and be heard in the Melton Heat!

Not up to performing? Join the audience and have your say on this years' finalists. Two poets chosen by the Melton audience will head to the Victorian Final!

National Finals will be held at Sydney Opera House for a grand prize worth $20,000, including publishing opportunities and gigs from Byron to Bali and beyond.

The Melton Heat will be hosted by creative mentor, Andi Stewart. A four-time Australian poetry slam finalist and two time runner-up, Andi founded Hobart’s WhamBamSilverSlam! and ROWDY before moving to Victoria in 2020. Andi believes that anyone can be a poet - a belief he brings to all his workshops at libraries, high schools and even living rooms.

All ages are welcome to enter and attend Australian Poetry Slam, however children under 12 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
