Event Description

Hear fascinating tales from one of Melton's most historic sites.

Christ Church Melton has stood at the heart of our community for over 150 years and is home to one of the oldest parishes in Melbourne’s west. Construction of the original stone church began in the early 1860s, with the first services held in January 1869. In the late 1980s, the aging stone structure was respectfully decommissioned due to safety concerns. The current church building, completed in 1985, now stands on the same historic site.

Reverend Ian Hennebry has been the vicar of Christ Church Melton since February 2024, having previously served in the North East of England. He has always been interested in local history and hosted regular talks at his local historical society in the UK. Ian is fascinated by the history of Melton and is keen to share some of his findings from the Church archives.

Come along to hear from Ian and share your own memories of the Church and the community that surrounds it.
