Event Description
Take a dive into the world of travel writing! Award winning freelance travel writer Laura Waters explains to us the myths and realities, and what it takes to become a travel writer. We’ll cover the average day (spoiler alert! – there is no such thing), how you get the story (interviews, taking notes, photography), how the industry works (working with editors and tourism operators, pitching stories, how you get paid, securing trips) and most importantly - how to break in!
Laura has hiked the length of New Zealand, kayaked 2400km down the Murray River and much more, whilst writing all about it. Her work has featured in Escape, Explore, Traveller and Australian Geographic Adventure and she is the author of two books, ‘Bewildered : leaving everything behind for 3000km in the wilds of New Zealand’ and ‘Ultimate walks & hikes Australia’.
